Devlog - Sept 19th, 2021
It’s been a very long time since I posted a new Devlog, which is bad since I specifically asked people to follow this itch page in the character preview videos. Sorry guys.
It’s been a little over a year since development on the RED: Shadow Maggots game began and wow what a year it’s been! As much as I’d like to do a retrospective, I’d rather make it short, keep it bite-sized and all. My new year’s resolution is to actually post here more and offer an alternative to people who don’t like Twitter. Wouldn’t want to ruin it by making these posts a slog to write, time spent on update posts could be spent working after all.
To find an archive of all RED: Shadow Maggots related posts without having to make a Twitter account, you can check out this link.
In any case, this week’s update is on the unveiling of the first in-game AOE attack! It’s a reference to the attack made by the giant heavy seen in the original RED: Shadow Maggots video. Can’t attach videos to itch devlogs, but you can still check the Twitter post without making an account. I just don’t feel that these tiny updates warrant Youtube uploads
Of course, the boss will have a few other attacks up his sleeve just to make things interesting, but the creation of this update required the tweaking of some back-end systems as well as reimagining some gameplay elements, hence why it took so long to have this ready to show off. I’ll delve into the gameplay changes next week.
Thanks for reading and for following the project! I’m going to try to post short clips to Twitter every Saturday and a longer itch post every Sunday!

When TF2 finally rest in peace, I'll still be playing this game for the rest of my life. (As soon as it's released ofcourse)
